About Us
The NBMBAA, Memphis Chapter was established in 1993 with only 36 charter members. The Memphis Chapter has grown significantly since that time. The chapter is involved in the corporate, civic, community and educational activities of Greater Shelby County. The chapter sponsors several annual fundraising and social events, and participates in the Mid South Minority Business Council's Minority Market Place. At least one college undergraduate scholarship is awarded annually.
Memphis Chapter NBMBAA members make hands-on contributions to the Mid-South Community via: " Student targeted programs such as Junior Achievement, Career Network , Destination MBA, business education seminars and scholarship awards. " Leadership, development and resource-based support of African American businesses through its Economic Development Committee. " Leaders of Tomorrow Program.
Mission
The NBMBAA - Memphis Chapter will strive to capture, maximize, and deploy its membership resources while implementing programs that:
- Promote and develop technical business skills
- Sustain and strengthen the economic structure of the African American community
- Enhance professional and personal growth
- Encourage entrepreneurship and assist new and existing African American businesses
- Build partnerships with local corporations
- Assist students in our community with educational opportunities
- Provide scholarships for undergraduate students
- Increase ACT and SAT scores for high schools students
- Increase GMAT scores for undergraduate students applying for graduate school
