Leaders of Tomorrow
Leaders of Tomorrow Program Description: Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) is a national network of high school students and MBA professionals who focus on student empowerment.
Approximately 10 metro area high school students, called "Leaders" have the opportunity to interact with outstanding business leaders from the local area and all over the world. Mentors guide the students through a challenging program designed to help them develop the skills and attitudes necessary for success. Leaders participate in a variety of activities, workshops, and events that emphasize growth in the following areas:
Memphis Chapter Leaders of Tomorrow: The Memphis Chapter Leaders of Tomorrow program is part of the National Black MBA Association’s national program. Implemented in 1999, The Memphis Chapter has mentored over 100 students, many of whom have gone on to college. The program is free for local high school students. Leaders must complete an application and parental waiver prior to participating in the program. For the past three years a student team of six has participated in the association’s national Student Case Competition. The Memphis Chapter has had two High School Scholarship Senior Scholarship winners from the national organization over the past three years. Each winner receives $2000 towards college education. (Only 5 awarded each year). In July of 2006, the Memphis Chapter sent two students to participate in the LOT Leadership Camp in Orlando, Florida. (Only 25 students selected nationally each year).
